We bought a house. I still can't fully comprehend the fact that I am now a homeowner. Did I think I was going to be happily married and settled back home with two cats, a dog, a permanent job and a house, all before hitting 30? Bahahaha of course not; as an angsty 21 year-old I could hardly see past 25. But here I am.
"Cheers to house stress" quipped a friend over dinner this past weekend. I didn't give much thought to those words, because I'm still a naïve pup, not yet over-thinking the repairs, upgrades and general maintenance to be had for the rest of my life (although while looking at houses, I kept stressing the importance of re-sale value to my husband like it was THE dealbreaker, for some bizarre reason). My perma-grin and wide-eye stare will probably stick around at least for the first few months, (as if I'm not enough of a space cadet). Sorry friends!
What I do know is that we will be fairly broke and won't be doing our usual galivanting to the States or Montreal, nor going out to eat and drink as much as we're used to. As such, I want to enjoy this "at-home" summer as much as possible by working on various projects as well as discovering new local (and cheap) activities. Neither myself nor the husman are especially handy or creative but that doesn't intimidate me. Should it?
This blog isn't meant to place my entire life under a microscope for all to view; no Myspace poses or self-pity rants will be found here, promise. I guess I felt that this milestone was meant to be logged, and since it's not especially personal, vain or ramble-inducing, why not have it shared? So, I intend for this to become a forum to share ideas for projects, activities, recipes and local getaways. Please post any feedback, suggestions, complaints. I'll soon have a list up of projects I intend to work on this summer. They may or may not involve homemade booze, gardening and a cat flap door. In the meantime, please share!
